Rotterdam - modern architecture at its best
A Glimpse of Rotterdam
Do you already know Amsterdam and The Hague? Then it might be time to explore the ultramodern city of Rotterdam which has become a very popular spot for Instagrammers. I did not have enough time to explore the city for a full blog post but I wanted to share at least a few photos and a video clip with you.
During a one-day excursion from my home city Düsseldorf, I have explored Rotterdam, Europe`s largest sea port and one of the most modern cities on the continent. Breathtaking skylines with stunning skyscrapers just next to traditional Dutch houses. One of the highlights is the ultramodern Erasmus Bridge designed by the famous Spanish architect Calatrava. Other major sites include the old White House next to a litte harbour with cafés and restaurants and the fancy cube houses. Modern architecture at its best! Don´t miss to visit the new and very impressive market hall with all kinds of food and delicatessen. A true paradise for foodies and open on Sundays! You can easily visit all these sites (and many other attractions) on a comfy walk. In short - highly recommendable for a city break, also as an alternative to the crowded Amsterdam! International travelers are only beginning to discover this very interesting metropolis in the Netherlands. Rotterdam now belongs to my favorite cities for sure.
You can easily combine a city break in Rotterdam with a visit to one of the many fantastic beach resorts in the Netherlands.
Here`s my short video clip:
